Frequently Asked Questions

Every Norton vise is engineered, machined and assembled in Traverse City, Michigan, U.S.A. Each one is built with the care of a precision instrument.

Components are machined from high-strength, high-impact tool steels and fully heat treated, yielding 250,000 PSI material strength — over four times that of a cast vise, which is around 60,000 PSI. Jaws and anvil are through-hardened tool steel.

Yes. Components are available so your tool can always be maintained. Day-to-day service is a single grease zerk that lubricates the main body, dynamic jaw tube and Extreme Lock Swivel Base. The heat-treated screw and nut assembly is sealed from the environment and lubricated at the factory, so it needs no regular service.

The Gold Standard Model 60 is our combination pipe and bench vise, built for the home shop, the production floor, or a service vehicle. It holds flat stock in the 6 in. Extreme Grip Jaws and pipe from 5/8 to 3 in. in the combination pipe jaws. A second model is in development.

In-stock vises leave the shop within two business days and typically arrive in three to six business days. Shipping timelines and rates are confirmed at checkout.
